One great way to save on a casual event like this is to use your own flowers or purchase some from a farmers market. Don’t the flowers in the above picture look like they have been fresh cut and gathered from someones very own garden, they have that casual look that lends itself well to a less formal wedding. Another place to save on flowers for do-it-yourselfers is through your local grocery store, you can actually order from them at a great price. Shop around and compare prices. A friend of mine named Karen told me Sams Club has great pricing on flowers.
An alternative to a large formal cake is a smaller style like the one above, A smaller cake works out great when served with other bit size favorite desserts. Family and friends love to help make desserts and here again is another great way to save.
