make your olive oil bottle a soap container

May 15, 2010

What do you use for a soap dispenser at your kitchen sink??? I was at my friend Karen’s house a few weeks ago and noticed her pretty bottle of kitchen soap. It was actually an Olive Oil dispenser, or what normally would be thought of as an oil dispenser….. Anyway, it looked so pretty; I decided to pick one up for myself and try it out. I use to have a pump soap dispenser, but it cracked and it was time for me to switch out the bottle of Palmolive that had so comfortably called my kitchen counter its home 🙂 Here’s what I ended up getting at Target.

It actually works really well and doesn’t clog up at all, it’s really plain, but then again, its better than what I had :).

I keep my eye out for different bottles when I am out …

Here are a few different ones I’ve  noticed on the web.

Great for a farmhouse country look….

The bottles in the photo above are from Crate and Barrel.

PS. this probably isn’t the best type of dispenser for children. There are  a lot  of other types of containers that are really pretty for a kitchen sink that have a pump style.  The pump type can be found in the bath section of most stores, just look for a larger size so you’re not filling it constantly.

I have seen the spout parts available at wal mart and dollar stores. That way, you can make a dispenser out of any normal size spout bottle. My olive oil is in an old vanilla bottle. I love the idea of using it for soap though. I’m looking forward to bottle hunting this next week. Thank you for the idea. Your blog is wonderful!

Thank you for the tip about buying the spout parts, I’ll have to check those out. Love that you used a vanilla bottle for your olive oil.
I’ll come visit your blog 🙂
