Warming up the family/dining room for fall/winter.

September 8, 2010

Awhile back my sweet friend LeAnn told me about some cute $15 drapes at Walmart…. The price caught my attention so I went and bought a pair thinking I might use them in my living room. I never ended up using them, I went with the PotteryBarn drapes instead. So there they sat gathering dust ….well this week end I cut and sewed those forgotten panels into 2 long drapes to hang and frame my big window… here are the before and afters…. I used 3 panels for a total of $45. They come standard 84″ and I needed more like 104″ so I cut up the third panel and added sections to the bottom of each of the 84″ panels…. (As soon as I get a more decorative rod I plan to move the drape higher.)

Before …no drape

After…..

This is what the package looks like in case you are interested. ….It is the Neutral color shade in a

buffalo check.

Nice! I love your living room/dining room. It looks like something that came out of a Pottery Barn catalog. =oD

What a great idea! I’ve seen those drapery panels at WalMart and the length that too short for me also. It was a simple as adding an extra panel. Can you make throw pillow covers with the leftover fabric?

You are quite the bargin hunter and get fantastic results in the process. I love the finished, or almost finished result. Which color BH color did you use – Spice or Neutral?
