Magazine idea!!

October 16, 2010

Hey…Hope you all have been doing well!!! I have been busy with a garage sale and home organization!!

Yesterday I was thinking about my whole issue with magazines/ cataloges…. and realized I can’t keep up with this pace of collecting ….so I’ve hatched a new and improved plan for myself.

I’m going to take close up pictures of favorite magazine/catalog pages with my camera and try and eliminate as much paper as possible. I know it won’t be as easy with recipes, but it will help me save special images online under specific file folders and eliminate the magazine piles from growing out of control.

The thing I realize is that even though I have good intentions of looking back at old magazines ….I confess…I rarely do.  Now I can look ideas up and have the specific personal faves right in front of me on the computer!!!!

Example: Here are a few of Martha’s Fall ideas from old issues…. I would never have seen these had I not gone through the old issues in attempts to purge. In the examples below I just snapped the pictures of the magazine pages  and filed them under fall…..  Awesome!! I am loving this!!!  Every time a new magazine / catalog comes in the mail and I see special pics I like, I can just snap a photo and toss the zine in the trash!!!…oops recycling bin!!!

PS.  My husband told me I can just scan my recipes 🙂 my mom suggested I just go to the library to look at magazines and books and snap a photo of my favs while I’m looking. ….since I usually only need to save a few pics from the whole mag. that’s not a bad idea :)…

Old magazine inspiration from Martha……

Love these white sprayed urns!!

Love the magazine idea. Double love your tagline. I also creeped around on your blog and laughed … you’re funny. I think we’d be friends. 😉

What a simple idea! Just yesterday I was sorting magazines & was having a hard deciding which ones to keep & which ones to recycle. Now the problem is solved.

You can also buy fall leaves from specialty online stores, I found one called botanicalart.etsy.com that sells these leaves, pressed and preserved. Especially useful if you live in an area with not much fall color, like me in Texas! 🙂
