Cute DIY window valance idea

April 25, 2012

Cute DIY window topper

Loving this cute window valance topper idea from Better Homes and Gardens.

They cut up a inexpensive bamboo blind and stapled it to

two pieces of wood…. Then they wrapped it around a wooden

dowel. You can go to their link for the complete instructions.

I want to try this idea. I might use the inside of a paper towel

roll or wrapping paper roll and see if that works to wrap the blind around.

My mom has a similar window topper made out of fabric,

but the long ties are knotted toward the ends instead of bows.

I’m thinking I’ll do knots on mine for a more tailored look.

Here is an example of the knot I’m talking about.
