Fancy rubber gloves

April 4, 2011

I have 3 boxes of pink rubber gloves sitting in my cupboard for some (why do I need so many rubber gloves stacked in my cupboard from a coupon freebie) reason. Which inspired me to do something with them, especially after seeing what Emily from Jones design co did to pretty up her rubber gloves.

The supplies I used:

Hoarded pink rubber gloves

1 pair of Dollar Tree black industrial gloves

Ribbon from Michael’s on sale for 50% off.

The finished glove examples of the no sew pink ones and the sew n sew black ones …..

How to photo inspiration:

Dollar Store black gloves

This is wire ribbon on sale for 50 off at Michael’s this week..

Pull the wire to create a gather on one side of the ribbon.

Pin and sew the ribbon to the glove. (This isn’t as easy as I thought it would be) It just takes patience and careful guiding of the glove so it keeps moving and pulling the ribbon straight too..

I was happy with the way they turned out. I decided to sew on a few buttons for an additional embellishment.

The pink gloves are the NO SEW examples. They are super cute and very simple!

The gloves are 5 inches across when I pull them flat. I just divided that in half and made a mark in the center at 2 1/2 inches. Then I continued out from the center an inch both ways and made a mark and another inch both ways and made another mark with a pencil. Basically, I end up coming in 1/2 inch on both outer edges. I used a razor cutter and pushed into both layers and made my cuts. That way I only had to make 5 cuts and they were all lined up.

I would make the slit a little smaller then the ribbon size…I just think it looks cute kind of gathered a bit. Personal prefrence!

Comment back and let me know if you make these 🙂 I’d love to hear from you 🙂
