Big beautiful planters over night: Home Depot $7.88

July 7, 2011

For years I’ve been cheating on my planters. I’m impatient and don’t take the time to plant

flowers and watch them grow. I want big full planters NOW… so I can watch them get

even fuller over night. 🙂

To make this happen, I do what all the other cheaters do. I buy really full…hanging

flower baskets. Preferably some at a really good price… like this one at Home Depot for $7.88.

I buy the one on the right below, because it’s fuller and has a lot more hanging

over the edge than the one on the left (at the same price).

I take it home and snap the hanging handles off the top. Then I plop it in my sorry looking

container that needs resprayed. Thankfully… the flowers cover the bad parts.

I had an herb garden in this planter last year, so there’s still leftover dirt.

The planters in the front of the house are filled with bricks to fill in and hold up my

hanging  baskets….They were a little more $$ I think 12ish.

I’m not saying these are the best looking planters in town.

I’m just loving how they add a BIG pop of color with little fuss!

Do you cheat on your planters?

PS. I haven’t bought petunias in so long, but they were the fullest

hanging baskets I could find at the best price.

Why haven’t I done this before? And I just love the look of the grapevine wreath with it too! Thanks for the inspiration!
